MISSION
The vision of HowDocsCare is to assist people afflicted by significant memory impairment and/or early dementia by giving hope of improvement to them, their families and loved ones, and to achieve this by facilitating easy and affordable care by providing best cost treatment and assisted daily living (ADL) strategies. Dr Ornish’s research has shown that numerous ‘sufferers’ will be well enough to recommence an independent life again. This is very different to the present situation where the family cannot avoid the permanent incarceration of their dear one in frail care or a “home”.
Our goal is eventually to open a fully fledged specialist ADL care centre to deal exclusively with in-patients. We are sure the proven Ornish regime will result in better results with such intensive management and relieve their ‘significant other’ and/or families of these responsibilities.
This ADL will be delivered by trained professionals at the ADL care centre. From the facts that Dr Ornish’s trial established, we know that our program is likely to take 20 weeks to yield good results for at least 40% of those who are admitted. However, it is very possible that the intensive phase of daily care would only require 4 to 6 weeks at the ADL care centre, and then treatment will proceed at home with our team’s support.
Government regulations and red tape are stumbling blocks that could seriously jeopardise or slow down this final phase of the implementation of our aims. We have been at work and will continue to toil to implement a long list of requirements. We will comply however long it takes to open a specialist care centre for Dementia rehabilitation.
